The reason the dogs will need to be re homed is that my father has terminal cancer, his health is deteriorating quite rapidly now. We have been told that he may have 4 months left, however hospice think it could possibly be sooner. Unfortunately all my sisters, brother and myself no longer live in South Africa otherwise we would have happily taken care of the dogs.
These dogs are the centre of my dads life and he is very worried about what will become of them once he has passed on.
 
There are 2 dogs, a mother Tanya and her son Harry. They are very close and have been together since Harry was born, I very much hope that they will be able to be homed together. They are used to regular walks, although since the cancer this has not happened so much anymore as my father no longer has the energy to do this. My sisters and I have been going over to South Africa as much as we can during this time and then take the dogs for regular walks. The dogs are well socialized towards other dogs and are not aggressive, the area where they walk is off leash so they run and roam around greeting all other dogs in the area.
 
The dogs sleep inside. I am unsure about how they would react to cats my father has never had a cat so they are not used to them Tanya used to be my
sisters dog and when she immigrated my dad took over her care. At that time my sister had a young daughter so Tanya has been around small children and has always been gentle and friendly, although she has not been around children now for many years, but her friendly character has not changed.
Harry has not been around children although in saying that he has a wonderful character and is so very friendly a bit of a nit wit actually so I don't think that children would be a problem.
 
Both dogs are up to date with their annual vaccinations. Tanya is aprox 12 yrs and is spayed, Harry is aprox 6 yrs and is not neutered.

Porthos is a 6 yrs old rhodesian ridgeback and Maya is a 4 yrs old golden retriever.

I had them both since puppies so they grew up together, this is the exact reason for me not wanting to separate them.

They are both vaccinated, KUSA registered, they're both pedigree dogs, spayed and nutted respectively.

They are inteligent dogs,very protective and loyal, extremely friendly without being trouble-makers.
They are both very good with kids.

Remember please that Maya has a problem with people of colour since I was attacked in an armed robbery in my house so we'll have to stay away form that. I told you that a friend of mine who's from Ethiopia wanted to take them, but when he saw Maya's reaction towards him, we both gave up on the idea.
Both come with igloo kennels (UV protected ), food and water bowls, leashes etc.
We are sadly emigrating from South Africa and we've tried to find a solution to take them with , but due to various circumstances like extreme weather conditions, lack of space ( we will be living in a block of flats ) and other negative factors, we realised that we can't.
I do not want any money for them, all I want is to be satisfied that they find a good, dog loving family where they will be happy.
